Lambda Chi Alpha (ΛΧΑ) is one of the largest fraternities in North America with 300 chapters and more than 250,000 initiated members.  Founded by Warren A. Cole at Boston University in 1909 is one of the oldest and has become the fastest growing international fraternity.  Alumni include President Harry S. Truman, founder of ESPN, William E. Rasmussen, NFL quarterback Mark Brunell, actor Chris Klein, CEO of Bellsouth, Duane Ackerman, and our own Dale Carlson, founder and CEO of Sleep Train mattress centers.

Lambda Chi Alpha seeks to promote higher education by providing opportunities for academic achievement, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Its open mottos are Vir Quisque Vir (Latin) Every Man a Man; Per Crucem Crescens (Latin) Crescent through the Cross; and Χαλεπα Τα Καλα (Greek) Naught Without Labor. Its members are often referred to as Lambda Chis.

The Sacramento Chapter was locally chartered in the fall of 1980. Since then the fraternity has initiated over 500 members. Their mission is to provide the best experience. They focus on personal character development through leadership, community service, scholarships, and positive social experiences. They are a non-profit organization. The alumni of various chapters are free to organize their own non-profit organizations to serve alumni of a specific school or region. Sacramento State currently has a non-profit corporation that provides to support the alumni members and alumni living in the area. It maintains a housing fund, a scholarship account and general support to the undergraduate chapter.

It was the first fraternity to abolish pledging and remains a leader in the fight against hazing, alcohol abuse, and other challenges facing today's college students.

Lambda Chi Alpha is an international fraternity established in 1909.  We have chartered over 300 chapters across the United States and Canada all of which share the same beliefs and ideals.  Lambda Chi Alpha has many prominent alumni including President Harry S.
